Amazing Frog? is a game for PC, released by Fayju in 2014 and updated constantly since the release date. It’s available on Windows and iOS. Imagine an anthropomorphic frog traveling along the Swindon City, full of adventures and dangers! You can become that frog and try various adventures, from simply parkour and exploration to Battle Royale or zombie hunting.
Graphics and Sound 10/10
Making the city suitable for a frog to live in is a great idea. In 3D environment your frog runs into cars and carousels, skates and barrels, enters rooms and streets, sees other frogs and zombies, and all of this combines quality and ironic style.
You can switch between various camera styles, including first-person. We don’t recommend the FPV, though, because most fun is delivered by the view of your green character. As for sounds… It’s a game where your protagonist is great at slipping and farting – enough said.
Controls 9/10
Amazing Frog? supports both keyboard and mouse input and gamepad controls. The instruction on both methods can be found in the built-in fPhone, the device your frog uses as an urban dweller. Dealing with this virtual phone is intuitive.
Controlling your character is even more fun than one might expect because the frog is not completely anthropomorphic. It has four legs, and it can jump as well as stand on two feet, and it can fall and slide. Adjusting to its manners can take hours, but it looks so extremely funny!
Gameplay 10/10
It’s a parkour adventure in an open world, and it wouldn’t be so much fun if not the frog. There isn’t any aim to reach; the joy the game delivers is mostly about exploring what else the frog can do in this city. It can ride carousels and cars, play football and slide on ice, jump on cars and enter shops, drown in the snow, and explore the city.
Along with solo parkour mode, there is a multiplayer one. You play along with other frogs, and if you allow for that, a shared adventure can turn into a PvP battle. And yes, your frog can be killed in it or kill other frogs, if you are more skilled.
Your frog can become a zombie hunter; what other game delivers an experience like this? A zombie-hunting frog, imagine that! Well, what about farting gyms? Where else can you see it? Amazing Frog is a feast of madness, and if you’re always up for a good laugh, it’s the game for you!
Lasting Appeal 7/10
The appeal of the game differs, depending on the platform. While on PC players can enjoy constant updates and new features, the iOS version sometimes looks like it’s abandoned. It is usually updated twice a year: before Christmas, with revamped festive looks and some more innovations, and right after the New Year, returning the original view but leaving the new features there.
Verdict
Amazing Frog? can seem too wild a game for you. But if it doesn’t, it may become your favorite. Its sense of absurd humor brings the sort of relief and anti-stress, and you can make videos and memes out of it. Isn’t that worth your attention? It’s a shame there isn’t a trial version, but you can watch some gameplay to decide.
